WOOD OPTIONS

Over 100 woods to choose from, light, mid tone, and darks from one of the country’s premier veneer suppliers, the star of the show, from the wood supplier, Certainly Wood

Ash

Curly figured gives this straight, clean grained quartered aash some depth and character.

Beech

European Spalted Beech stands out as one of our most distinctive veneer options, requiring several years to develop. The term "spalting" is used to explain the process wherein specific fungi colonize dead or fallen trees within the forest. Using a unique blend of fungi, logs are treated and rotated for several months, setting in motion a microscopic transformation within the tree. This process results in an array of unpredictable patterns, characterized by vivid black lines against soft pastel hues. High-quality spalted veneers are exceptionally rare, as spalting and dry rot typically occur in tandem

Bubinga

Waterfall bubinga- very exaggerated large rolling quilt-like waves crashing in an ocean of pink champagne.

Cedar

Alaskan yellow, quarter cut, cream color, nearly grainless, with a pleasant aroma.

Cherry Wood Sample

Cherry

High quality, classic cherry with a lively curl, flat cut and quarters.

Cypress

Also known as sunken cypress, deadhead cypress, and recovered or reclaimed cypress. Submerged for 60-150 years on a river bottom adds a beautiful grayish band of color and patina to these slow growth virgin cypress logs. Both the attractive "aged" look and the ecological benefits of reclaiming "lost" timber have contributed to the growing demand for this American treasure.

Ebony wood sample

Ebony

This flitch displays a unique and unusual creamy white/yellow background. The stark contrast offered by this veneer will make a brilliant accent to your next project

Etimoe

Etimoe

Etimoe exhibits a sleek and elegant appearance, characterized by its straight grain, often adorned with captivating black-red veins or distinctive stripes, imparting a touch of natural artistry. The heartwood boasts a warm reddish-brown hue, occasionally accented by darker streaks. This wood species frequently showcases a captivating curly or fiddleback grain pattern. Etimoe is renowned for its remarkable strength and hardness, while its inherent natural luster adds and enticing sheen to its overall appeal.

Eucalyptus

Bee's wing, butterscotch color, straight grain with strong bee's wing figure.

Gum wood sample

Gum

We've long thought that a wood as attractive, warm and different as red gum was overdue for another period of real popularity. Sunset mixture of warm browns, tans and reds.

Koa

Koa is heavily protected and therefore becomes rarer every year. Imagine designing and working with koa from a giant log with lustrous bands of russet brown, autumn gold, apricot, and copper with a dazzling fiddleback figure like they used to harvest 100 years ago. You can keep on imagining it or you can give us a call and make the dream into a reality. Take advantage of this opportunity to own a prime example of why this is Hawaii's "wood of the Kings".

Lati

Golden yellow color. Also known as white wenge because of the similarity of its grain pattern to that of true wenge.

Mahogany

Swietenia- exaggerated curl figure that looks like folds in fabric. One of true mahogany's most prized revelations.

Maple

Figure intensity, sheet size and cleanliness affect the price.

Monkey Pod

If you combined the appearances of koa and "sea grass" mahogany you would end up with something pretty close to our current inventory of monkey pod. Reminiscent of koa with its golden to dark brown color and meandering darker streaks and of "sea grass" mahogany with its highly figured, blowing-in-the-wind-sea-grass like grain pattern.

Padauk

Candy Stripe Padauk is a medium-density African hardwood veneer that possesses remarkable strength, a course texture, and a lustrous open grain. At times, you can find logs in the market that display a unique sap grain pattern interwoven with a rich orange hue. Similar to the beauty of ribbon candy, these logs are genuinely one-of-a-kind and create a vibrant, eye-catching pattern when matched together

Palmwood

Native to South America and Southeast Asia, Black Palmwood or "Royal Palm" is distinguished by its tightly packed black and tan grain that contains no growth rings, knots or defect. Thanking from just the exterior two to three inches of the tree, this veneer is carefully curated in small yields in consideration of the softness of the tree's inner core.

Satinwood

A very bright yellow wood with a bold, wavy fiddleback figure.

Spruce

Lutz spruce, a naturally occurring hybrid of Sitka spruce (picea sitchensis) and white spruce (picea glauca), is commonly used in guitar production because of its tonal properties.

Sycamore

Light white to yellow color, flat cut and quartered. One of the lightest and brightest plain woods. Occasional minor pin knots are common, although we select flitches with as few as possible.

Walnut

American, warm brown, strong character, straight grain, ropey figure.

Wenge

Wenge presents itself as a luxurious dark brown veneer with a course texture and intricate black veins. Its density, robustness, and stability make it a popular choice for architectural paneling and furniture due to its exceptional strength.

Zebrawood sample

Zebrawood

Zebrawood, also known as zebrano, originates from Africa and is characterized by distinct dark stripes set against a straw-colored background. Renowned for its prominent vertical grain, this wood boasts a texture ranging from medium to coarse and possesses a strikingly high luster. Its beauty is as bold as it is captivating, often eliciting inspired commentary when chosen as a wood veneer.
